It
was a solid effort from Carson Payne who broke the tie late in the game with
his third goal to help lift first place Plater Financial (11 pts) to a 5-4
victory over Lakeshore Optimist (6pts).
Callum Morey netted a goal and an assist while Jacob Johnston rounded out the scoring. Peyton DeMarco picked up a pair of assists and both Jacob Cottam and Damon Skinn-Wai each had one. Kenny Portiss strapped on the pads for Plater and allowed only two goals in each of the last two periods. Both Brayden Boere and Matt Davis answered with a goal and an assist apiece for Lakeshore. Connor Post and Thomas Laevens had the other tallies. Jasmine Martin chipped in with a pair of assists and Taylor Stafford had one. Goalie Nick Budden also gave a valiant effort between the pipes.
