House League Re-balancing
Submitted By David Palmer - Vice Chair - HL on Monday, October 28, 2013
This notice is intended to inform and educate those new to the
process of house league re-balancing. It is also a reminder for everyone
that has been involved in the past of what is involved and why we do
it.
It is also a reminder for everyone that has been involved in the past of what is involved and why we do it.
Every year, a few weeks into the season, we evaluate the competitive balance within each age group and after careful evaluation by the Conveners we move a small number of players in an attempt to provide balance and the opportunity for every team to be competitive each week.
We try our best to minimize the number of moves required.
Everyone must understand that the goal of House League is to provide the most enjoyable experience we can for all participants. We are not trying to build one strong team for the Alliance House League Championships. Having a positive experience does not mean you need to win every game either but we would like the teams to be as competitively balanced as possible.
We also understand that a perfectly balanced division will not be possible either. There are many differences between teams such as coaching, goaltenders, who shows up each week, illness, etc that can all contribute to the outcome of a game.
So as we approach this point in our season (or for some of you it may have occurred) that everyone realizes there is the possibility you may be approached about moving to another team for the betterment of the league. We hope you do understand and we certainly would appreciate your support of the process again this season.
Thank you.
