A Simple Gesture - Coach Harwood and the Minor Bantam MD Team
Submitted By Caroline Vallee on Monday, April 14, 2014
This past weekend the Waterloo  Minor Bantam Ice Wolves played against the Sarnia Sting Minor Bantam MD team in two games, one being the finals of the Alliance Championships.

Sadly, a member of the Waterloo team, Jakob Beacock, had passed away on Tuesday April 10th.

The Sarnia coaching staff and team led by Rob Harwood decided to honour the memory or Jakob by presenting his family with a Sarnia Sting player's jersey.

"The class and respect paid to Jakob, his family and our team by the coaching staff lead by Rob Harwood and his players was truly heartwarming to say the least", Waterloo Head Coach, Rob Flemming

"If you happen to see Coach Rob Harwood or anyone associated with the Minor Bantam MD team. Please stop, shake their hand & say, "Thank you"!! This was one of the classiest displays of friendship & sportsmanship I have ever been so proud to witness. The simple act of presenting OUR jersey to a hockey family in an incredibly difficult time spoke volumes about the PEOPLE we have in the Sarnia Hockey Association. From puck drop to the presentations, this is the BEST hockey game I have ever witnessed. Thank you Coach Rob, your Staff, players & their families!!!!!",
Shawn Antiosiak, Vice Chair - Rep Teams
