McDonald's Atom House League Week 13
Week 13 of McDonald’s Atom Hockey has swooped by leaving a blazed trail of stretched twine, and dented goal posts. Red

and Orange, Black and Green, Blue and Grey, and White and Yellow fought till the bell and left it all on the ice in this exciting installment of Canada’s favorite pastime.

Red and Orange drew the early morning, and took to the fresh, glassy ice at 8. Mitch Schechinger rang the market bell so-to-speak with the first goal of the weekend (assisted by Austin Bishop). The score remained 1-0 until nearly the end of the second period when Quinn Schmidt took the Luke O’Brien dish and put it in the oven for Orange’s equalizer. But in the third period Pat Tisdale broke Red out of the tie and into the lead before Austin Bishop scored on the open net to make the final 3-1.

Black and Green were on deck and were so eager to get out and play hockey they forgot to score in the first period. But in the second, Sebastien Fraser finally broke the stalemate when Ivan Lange fed him the puck on a platter but still, a very quiet second period as well. But in the third period the fuse on the cannon finally burned down and the teams shot out 5 combined goals. Green hammered home two answering goals from Jack Symington and Costa Columbo (Mitch Lucier and Aiden Matuzic with the helpers) Black pushed ahead again with a laser from Ivan Lange (Gray on the assist.) But Green harnessed its inner Secratariat and broke late with a goal each from Symington (his second) and Gibson. The game finished 4-2.

Game three the action kept rolling with Blue and Grey. The first period saw Grey unleash a plethora of rubber into their target. Three goals from three different players put the Grey team up. Goal scorers were Kyle Fraser (from Xander Stafford) Richard Campbell (from Josh Grant) and Jeremy MacMillan. The second period was more of the same with a goal each from Dean Palimaka and Josh Grant. But the game was not entirely one sided, Blue’s Christian D’Agostini let go a shot that nearly burnt through the twine it was going so fast. All for not though as Grey finished the game with one more from Jeremy MacMillan to cap the game at 6-1.

White and Yellow got to sleep in this week, and took the ice for the late game at 11:00. White’s Jackson Fawdry ate his Wheaties after a nice long sleep and used the extra strength in the first period to drive home 2 of his game-high 3 goals (assists to Jacob Graham and Cody Hillman). The second period made it interesting though as Yellow came back to tie with markers from Dawson Howes and Nolan Jennings (assist to Hudson Laur). Luke West has a personal feud with tie hockey games though, and made sure that by the end of the second, his team was back on top with a goal to put White up 3-2. And in the third Thomas Field added some insurance for White in the form of a goal. And the story of the game, Jackson Fawdry nailed down the hat-trick to clench the victory for White with just under two minutes left in the game. And with that the score was then 5-2 for White at the end of another week of Atom House League Hockey.
