Atom House League Report – Saturday Oct. 4/14 Games

Three hard fought games were played in another great week of Atom House League hockey action. This week saw McDonald’s Black take on Orange, while McDonald’s Red faced off against Teal, and McDonald’s White played Gold.

In the early morning 9:00 game, we saw both McDonald’s Black and McDonald’s Orange play a very fast-paced, exciting hockey game. Nash Little plotted Orange’s first tally only twenty seconds into the first period, but not to be outdone by Black’s own Noah Griffith who responded with an unassisted goal to tie the game at one apiece. After Black had taken the early lead 2-1, each team scored one more goal within the last two minutes of the first period making the score 3-2 after the first ten minutes of play. Black carried their momentum into the second period and added to their goal column to make the score 4-2 with a nice goal from Owen Pereira. Heading into the third period both teams displayed tremendous hustle as Black added another goal that was set up with a nice assist from Charlie Kerwin.  In the final minute of play, Orange was pushing to bridge the gap as they scored one final goal to close the game scored by Sasha Taylor. The final score of the game was 5-3 in favour of the Black team.

In the middle game was a high-scoring, high-energy game played by McDonald’s Red versus Teal. Jack Hogan opened the scoring midway through the opening frame with an unassisted goal. Red would score another goal before Owen Kahoe of the Teal team would respond with a goal of his own. Heading into the second period, Red carried their momentum with four goals scored by four different players respectively. Teal would also tally on one more goal in the period to make it a 6-2 game heading into the final stanza. The third period seemed to be a very tight, evenly matched battle as Red managed to kill of their minor penalty without allowing Teal to score on the power play. Each team fought to score two more goals each to finish the final frame. Red took the victory in a 8-4 victory over Teal.

In the final game of the morning was McDonald’s White against Gold. Liam Fogel opened the scoring the first period for White with a nice unassisted goal just over a minute into the period. White continued to push hard through the first as Kyle Moore plotted one more to end the first period. In the second period Gold pushed hard to come back but the hustle from the White team could not be outdone as Moore scored two more goals to attain the natural hat trick. The third and final period of the game saw White score two more goals to make the score 6-0. In the final eight minutes of the game, Gold was showing off their defensive skills by stopping White’s every last opportunity. White’s goaltending remained solid throughout the duration of the match as White took home the 6-0 shutout to close out the day.

With three more games in the books, we end another fun, competitive week in McDonald’s Sarnia Atom House League hockey.
