Evaluation Registration:

You are required to arrive approximately 45 min early in order to register for the skate.  This station will be set up at the front of the arena near the concession stand.  Upon registration you will be issued an evaluation jersey which will need to be returned upon completion of your session immediately.

You will be directed to a designated dressing room to get ready and prepare your player for their skate.  These rooms will not be locked at any time do not leave valuables in the dressing room.   Players preparing to go on the ice have priority.

Evaluation Equipment:

Every player will need to be completely dressed to skate.  Full protective equipment is mandatory in accordance with Alliance and SHA Policy.  I recommend each parent review their players equipment to ensure it is complete and ready to go prior to arriving to the arena.

  • Check Helmets for loose screws, missing straps and face shield
  • Hockey Pants, Shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, jock or jill
  • NECK GUARDS (BNQ Certified)
  • Hockey Gloves (NO LACROSSE GLOVES)
  • Properly sized hockey socks
  • ONE Ice Hockey Stick (NO ROAD HOCKEY/Plastic Blades)
  • SHARP HOCKEY SKATES (There is no sharpening service at CLEARWATER ARENA)

GOALIES - Players that have identified as GOALIES may wear their equipment, but they will be expected to perform all drills with the groups. SHA will not be providing goalie equipment for evaluation.

WATER BOTTLES - Players will be responsible for their own water bottles.  No parents will be permitted on the ice or benches.  No player will be denied water, but we will encourage them to drink during rest periods rather than during the execution of drills.

MOUTH GUARDS - Mouth Guards are not mandatory, but are recommended.

Evaluation Execution and Flow:

The nature of the evaluation is to observe our players, assess their skills, and begin establishing the COACH-PLAYER relationship.  It is imperative we see how each player interacts with the ICE HOCKEY EXPERIENCE naturally.  Once your player is on the ice, just sit back and enjoy the experience.   If a player is experiencing anxiety, we will gently encourage participation and  try to keep them engaged for the full session. If a player is overly discomforted we may take them out of the situation, please stick around in case we need your assistance in supporting your child off the ice.

Please pay attention to the ENTER and EXIT signs on the ice surface.  They will be at different locations.

Movement on and off the ice will be controlled/coordinated by the ICE MARSHALL.

Each session is approximately 1 hour.

ONLY SHA Volunteers will be permitted on the ice surface and the player benches.

Please try not to loiter in the dressing rooms.

Please do not leave the arena with our EVALUATION JERSEY, your player will be issued their Jersey when he/she meets their team after Sept 24th.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND EVALUATION or HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT:

[email protected]

THIS IS NOT A TRY OUT, NO PLAYER WILL BE PRESSURED TO PERFORM ON THE ICE
