Sarnia Hockey Association Recreational Leagues - Session 2 Update
Conveners, Coaches, Players & Fans

Sarnia Hockey is going to continue it’s 20-21 Season Program as planned.  We will begin Session 2 in November (Don’t forget to register!).  Session 2 will be 7 weeks in duration due to an extended Christmas Break.  SHA has postponed it’s regular Winter Classic Tournament for the time being.  Here is what you can expect to see:

U6  (Instructional) - will continue with 1 ice time per week.  Our coaches will be working with these little athletes on basic fundamental skills to play the game of hockey

U7 & U9 (Development Leagues) - will continue with 2 ice times per week.  Our Cross/Half Ice games will look a little different without the added boards but we will still have a smaller game surface to play on.  Details will be sent to coaches for set up and modified rules for COVID will adapted to our regular U9 & below format

U11, U13 & U15 (Recreational) - will continue to be 2 ice times per week.  Our cohorts will be formed into “Leagues” of 40 players so we can schedule 4 team round robin rotations.  There will be a series of exhibitions so we can get our players used to some new adapted rules that help us keep physical distance on the ice.

U18 & U21 (Recreational) - will begin with 1 ice time per week.  These teams/cohorts will need to participate in a 2 week practice/development phase before they move into a series of exhibition games that will be scheduled in the weeks to come.  These exhibitions will help our players familiarize themselves with the modified rules and game format that will be played as the OHF progresses through the phases in the OHF Response to COVID19 & it’s “RETURN TO PLAY” Structure

GOALIES - There is wide concern with a shortage of goalies to play our games.  Sarnia Hockey has partnered with FORGE HOCKEYto provide us with a few “Shooter Tutors” to act as fill ins should a team not have a goalie.  These tools will be available for all recreational teams that use 72” or 36” nets.

SESSION 2 PROPOSED SCHEDULE - TO BE CONFIRMED
