Sting defeat Aeros...
We are what we repeatedly do.  Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit......

The Sting travelled to Oakridge, Monday night to play the Oakridge Aeros capturing a 4-2 victory.

Prior to the game, it was clear that the Sting players were in another dimension.  This was in contrast to the focussed team that showed up to capture a victory in the Mooretown tournament.  Perhaps it was the Monday night travel, the loss of the team captain and one of the assistants, or the fact that they felt the game would be an easy win...  Unfortunately, the Sting players must come to the realization that all the teams in the league are now gunning for them and they must prepare for the best that each team in the league has to offer.

The game had some brights spots... The play of Spencer Baillie, who took a flat team on his shoulders, backchecked hard, forechecked hard and scored, was impressive.  The forechecking of Ian Bailey was consistent all game.  Some nice hits from Collin Zimmer, Mathew Waun and Kaz "The Anvil" Gudelis were also impressive.

The Aeros initially captured the lead in the game off a defensive miscue which led to a breakaway goal.

The Sting answered back with a goal by Josh D'Angela which was assisted by Kaleb Zeytinoglu.  The Sting then took the lead on a goal by Spencer Baillie which was assisted by Evan Trigatti.

Evan Trigatti got the next Sting goal when he beautifully tipped a point shot by Aidan Clark, past the Oakridge goaltender.  Aidan Clark then answered with the final goal for the Sting when he fired a goal on a point shot that was set up by a pass from Spencer Baillie.  Credit to the forwards on this one for creating some traffic in front of the net.

The Aeros answered back in the third to make it a tight game, however the Sting managed to hold on for the win.

The Sting's next game is against their rivals, the North London Nationals, Friday night at the Sarnia Arena.
