Minor PeeWee MD Sting Win West London Tournament
The Sting Minor PeeWee Did It Again! 3 Tournament Wins this Season!
The Minor PeeWee Team followed the Canadian Olympic team, taking the tough road to the finals. Once they got there they were not going to lose!
The Sting Started the tournament strong, beating the Oakridge team Handily 6-0 on the Friday morning, the layover got the best of them, and they didn't seem to have their legs for the early evening game vs. North London.
The team was tired, had too much fun in the afternoon, and lost to their biggest rival North London 4-1.
The coaching staff re:grouped the team, told them to focus, and the next games were big wins!
The Sting Defeated George Bell Titans 2-1, then went on to defeat West London in the Semi Finals 4-1 to Launch themselves to a rematch final against North London.
The stage was set, the Crowd was noisy, cheering and blowing horns for every opportunity. The Sting was on the opponent from the first drop of the puck. Spencer Baillie played inspired hockey, earning the title of War Horse, while Andrew (honey badger) Czczurcko came through with the first goal of the game, off the post and in for a 1-0 lead. North would do their best, and Stevie Schaefer had to hold them off on numerous occasions.
The Sting D played great in their zone! Getting the puck to the bigger Offense of the Sting, and giving them time to set up the plays.
The line of Cole Goossens, Colin Zimmer, and Kaleb Zeytinoglu had numerous chances, while the pressure line of Tyler Talbot-Ellis , Ian Bailey and Evan (Florida boy) Trigatti applied huge pressure, making the Nationals make mistakes and cough up the puck.
In the Third period the Sting were able to capitalize on a turnover, Spencer Bailie went around 2 Nationals, and did not miss this opportunity, hitting the back of the net!
The Nationals applied pressure the rest of the way, Aidan Clark was super steady on D, along with the rest of the D' They held off the attack. Special praise to Greg Ross, Damon Skin-Wai, Kaz Gudelis, Matt Waun, and Hayden Griffin! AWESOME WORK!
The Nationals did their best, but the Sting held tight, and an empty net goal by the Honey Badger sealed the deal!
This is the 3rd tournament win for the Sting, keep up the Hard work! The Big Prize is the MD Championships in April!!! GO STING GO!
