Major PeeWee MD Captures Chatham Silver Stick Regional Championship
The Sarnia Jr. Sting Major PeeWee MD team traveled to Chatham, Ontario to compete in the Regional Silver Stick qualifier for Southern Ontario this past weekend.  The Sting walked away with a championship victory over league rivals, the North London Nationals, to qualify for the International Silver Stick tournament which will be held in January 2014 in Pelham, Ontario.

The Sting started out the tournament playing the Belle River Canadians, the Erie Storm and the North London Nationals.  After pool play the sting were 2-1 dropping a hard fought battle to the Nationals.  The Sting advanced from pool play to play the Lasalle Sabres in the tournament semi-final.

In semi-final action the Sting got off to a lethargic start allowing the Lasalle Sabres to capture an early multi goal lead.  However, mid way through the second period the Sting found their groove and stormed back to eventually claim victory.  The game was highlighted by a four goal effort from Cole Goossens who was awarded the player of the game honours.

In the finals, the Sting again faced the North London Nationals.  On this occasion, the result would be different as the Sting came out of the gates hard against their opponents.   The Sting never looked back and held off the Nationals for the remainder of the game and cruised to a hard fought victory.  The Sting look forward to returning to league play to continue their spirited rivalry against the Nationals who the Sting have been trading victories with all season.  The highlight of this game was a hat trick by Zack Moore who was awarded the player of the game honours.

With this victory, the Sting qualify for the International Silver Stick Final.  Congratulations to the Sting for a great tournament victory.
