Minor Novice Capture Motown Cup for 3rd Title
The Sarnia Sting Minor Novice MD won their 3rd tournament of the season taking home a Motown Cup Title in Detroit to go along with wins in Burlington and Brantford.

The team won the Motown cup with 4 decisive wins, running their tournament record this season to a perfect 16-0.

Solid goaltending and exceptional team defence was complimented with an offensive outpouring over the 4 games. Sarnia outscored their opponents 31-3 recording 3 shutouts along the way.

In round robin play, Sarnia defeated the Markham Waxers, Sault Ste. Marie Rotary and the Wyandotte Warriors.  The team then had to wait for results to see who, and better yet, where, they would play for the championships.

To highlight their tournament year, the team learned late Saturday night that the championship game would be played at the Joe Louis Arena, home of the Detroit Red Wings, and a rematch with the Markham Waxers.

A strong defensive start bought time for the slumbering offence to get in gear.  The game was tied at 0 after the first period but the Sting offence took over after that recording 3 goals in the second and 3 more in the third to take the title game 6-0.

It was a tremendous experience for both the players and their parents to have the opportunity to play at The Joe. Congratulations once again to the players on their win and their 3rd title of the season!
