Mighty Maroons hold Grey Matter to a 1 Goal Game!
The Mighty Maroons played their final game in the season opening series against Grey Matter.  Claire Schleihauf opened up the game showing Grey Matter that Maroon meant business today!  She took the opening face off and carried the puck right to Grey's goaltender.  She snuck it past under his bad, ringing it off the post!

Chase DeHaan was locked in defensively today.  He strapped the pads on for the Maroons.  Chase allowed 1 goal early in the first period holding back the rest of Grey Matter's shots, keeping them to 1-0 for the whole game.  Chase earned this weeks PLAYER OF THE GAME with his dedication, effort, and seeming limitless self sacrifice!

Chase was aided defensively by Abilene Clark who maintained a presence in front of the Maroon goal.  Colton Lotz and Julia Gibb were hard in the corner battles and Luke Anjema made some big offensive pushes from the Maroon blue line.

The Maroon offense never gave up, some big plays by Logan Jones, Rhys Gawdunyk, and Mathieu DeRochers all had Grey Matter back on their heels.  Maroon just wasn't able to sink another puck behind the Grey Matter Goalie.

All in all this series went well for Maroon, the team is progressinng well and the front office doesn't see much movement with the trade deadline approaching Oct 25.  I know we are all looking forward to seeing another match up between Maroon and Grey later this season.  But next Sunday, get ready as the Maroons will be lacing up to face Orange in a game that will keep Maroon fans on the edge of their seat!  See you then.
