3rd Playoff Game Report
This week we played the Red Devils a team that we have played tough all season! The game started out with each team feeling out the other team as they both played tight. Suddenly Jordan Brooks stepped up from his defensive position and took the puck for a end to end rush that the Devils defense was able to break up . As the Devils applied their own pressure Matthew Ray showed he was here to play and stole the puck to end any attempt to start the scoring!
With the puck in our end we gained control and Greyson Levy showed off his soccer abilities and kicked the puck forward to start a rush of our own. As the game continued to be a tight contest Keaton Appeldorn took full advantage of his reach and politely swiped the puck away from an advancing Devil. Just when we were getting into a groove the opposition struck 1st on a breakaway and a shot that beat our goalie high glove side (nice shot by Omar our goalie admitted). The pressure kept coming but James Robbins stood tall and continued to stop all rubber headed his way! As the period drew to an end Kaleb Orrange stole the puck from the advancing Devils to break up a scoring chance. The 2nd period started with Connor Vandermeer having 2 quick shots to test the Devils goalie and keep him on his toes. Our defense continued to look strong as Jordan Brooks took away a scoring chance on a breakaway to assist his goalie and pump up our team! That seemed to boost our offense as Jimmy Lawrence went on his own rush to pound the puck to the net and Jack Berry followed but failed on the rebound attempt, excellent job Jack! In the other end of the rink a hard slapshot was brushed away by our netminder only to be followed by a breakaway save to keep us in the game. Jack Berry took advantage of a wayward puck in the Devils end but just could not quite finish the job! Then just as fast as our opportunity ended the opposition jumped on a loose puck and scored on a breakaway to make it 2-0. Our goalie started the 3rd strong as he stopped the puck twice on a breakaway and maybe a touch of luck as 1 shot sailed high over our net! Down 2 goals did not stop Alex Campbell from playing take away as he also frustrated the Devils with his own steals defensively. As the game wound down our TEAM did not give up with Danny Morningstar also taking the puck away and Ryson Payne streaking to the net with his breakaway attempt only to be denied. With 3:33 left the Devils added the final touch and put the game out of reach. Our goalie once again did not give up and made 3 last minute saves to keep the score respectable. Again a strong effort and fun game had by all!! This week we have an opportunity to bring our top game to the Dresden tournament and enjoy a little ROAD TRIP!! Looking forward to this week and hope everyone can attend, 1 other note is our Saturday game has been switched to 10:00 am from 9:00 am a little more sleep that's all. GO BEAST GO!!
