7th Playoff Game Report
Hello Team and Parents, Again this week we would battle the White Lightning, who would upset us 3-2 in a tight contest back in January. Today's game would start close with Alex Campbell breaking up a play at centre ice to throw off the competition early. But the Lightning would strike 1st as James Robbins hustled back to almost break up the play but they popped in the opening goal against Terrance Williams our goalie of the day. Inspired by his brother, Landon Williams sent a pass to Greyson Levy for a quick scoring chance but the shot went wide.
The Williams boys seemed to be locked in today as Terrance made a brilliant save on a break away attempt by the White team. After that our offense picked up the pace and Noah Mooser fed James Robbins a pass in front of the net and he put it 5 hole!! The Lightning would strike back 1 minute later on a give away by Black and would steal the lead. Our goalie showed his cat like reflexes with a stick save late in the period. Offensively Jordan Brooks took off from his defense role and went in solo for a quality scoring chance break away! In our end of the rink Danny Morningstar would have his stick chopped out of his hands but Noah noticed and stopped to retrieve Danny's stick and pick it up for him to keep the play moving, nice job Noah! With the pace of the game increasing James went in for a break away and tested their goalie's glove but would be disappointed. Only minutes later Keaton Appeldorn would slide home a 5 hole goal of his own with 45 seconds remaining to end the period. The second period started tied at 2-2, with our goalie again making a beautiful stick save. Jack Berry also showed his hockey sense and delivered an across ice pass for another scoring chance. But at 12:30 of the period White would score again and regain the lead. Black would continue to pressure the White team with Keaton ripping a shot at the goalie only to be saved. In own end Matthew Ray assisted his goalie with a block in front of our net. As the game intensified Jordan was brought down with a hit but would bounce back and continue strong. The White were relentless and again scored with 4:50 left in the 3rd. The 3rd period would start with Terrance making another thrilling glove save to keep us close. But the opposition would not be denied and pounded home another goal at 13:45 , but we responded with our Captain getting his goal at 12:50. After that Keaton again would send the puck high into the air to allow the crowd some down time and reflect on how the game was going! Black would not give up as Danny , Jimmy , and others would continue to apply pressure. Play of the period would be Ryson eyeballing Greyson from the blue line and sending him a pass across ice that Greyson would just fan on to miss a glorious chance, nice try boys! With 5:20 left White would add another to ice the score but not our drive to win!! Matthew made a sliding stop across the front of the net to take away a scoring chance. And with time closing out Jack would make a pass across ice to Leland to show that we will not stop until the clock runs out!! With this determination and winning attitude from all of us, good things will come . GO BEAST GO!!
