10th and Last Playoff Game Report
Hello Team and Parents, This would be a very meaningful game to both teams, as playoff final positioning would be at stake. Our last game against the Green Machine was a tie 3-3 in February. This game would not disappoint the crowd with Green getting the 1st shot on net minutes into the game. After that we would step up with 2 nice defensive plays by Noah Mooser and followed up by Alex Campbell, both breaking up advancing plays by Green.
With the defence looking steady James Robbins felt cool as a cucumber in net as he made numerous pad saves to keep Green at bay. Once again Jordan Brooks held the blue line as he stole the puck from the opposition making it look as easy as taking candy away from a baby! Landon Williams sent a shot wide of Green's net and then was setup by Jimmy Lawrence for another good chance. Enough was enough at 6:28 as our Captain slipped past all the Green team and had a shot trickle past their goalie to start the scoring! Minutes later Kaleb Orrange would break up a play at our blue line and then just miss a scoring chance in front of their net. With Green passing between our defenders they would tie the game at 3:45 to keep it close. Connor Vandermeer would settle the puck on their blue line and send a beautiful shot just wide . After that with Green chasing the puck into our end Grayson Levy turned on the jets to hustle back and break up another scoring chance. The 2nd period we would be on our heels to start as Green applied pressure but our goalie and defencemen stood strong. Just as the pressure let up in our end we would bring it to them and Keaton Appeldorn would feed Kaleb a strong pass from beside their net out front and Kaleb would send it 5 hole quicker then a mouse on cheese, after that goal the crowd would get another chance to see Kaleb's on ice celebration second to none!! With the crowd still buzzing Jimmy would dangle some moves of his own to slide past the defence and send a stiff shot at their goalie. But this day Green would not give up and scored at 9:45 to tie the game. Shortly after that and maybe still excited 2 Green players would collide at their own blue line and create a little scoring chance for Black only to be stopped. After a back and forth period our Captain would again send the crowd wild and score with 1:10 left and put us ahead. With 5 seconds left our goalie would calm our team down with another save to end the period. The 3rd would not disappoint as Connor would help his goalie and clear the puck from the side of our net. But again Green would send a wicked shot past our goalie to tie the game again. Both teams are pumped and the adrenaline is flowing! Connor would attempt his own break away but would be denied, then Ryson would score his 3rd of the game to put us ahead . With the Beast feeling the need for more goals , Jimmy would accommodate with another at 5:48 to give us a little cushion. James would stop Green with 5:00 minutes left and after that Jordan Brooks went end to end from his defensive position to outright Bobby Orr and added another to give us a 6-3 lead and hyper ventilate the crowd! What a Goal Jordan!! Green would not stop though and beat James at 3:30 to make it 6-4. The next few minutes proved to be the toughest to watch this year for our cheerleaders, Green would send shot after shot in and around our net , off the post and off our goalie's pads , blocker and anything that was not the back of our net!! Now with Green pulling their goalie Leland Williams would ice the puck and let us recover from the onslaught. With the Green net empty Danny Morningstar would add another goal and then Jimmy would finish it off at 8-4 with 20 seconds left and send us to the C- Cup Championship against Gold!! That was the Black Beast's best game of the year and now we must put together our very best game this Saturday. I have complete confidence in our team and am looking forward to this game, but no matter what we have had a fun season and this last game will be the best!! GO BEAST GO!!
