Welcome to Red Team 4 - Jiffy Lube!
Welcome to a new season of hockey with the Sarnia Hockey Association.

My name is Glen Fenwick and I will be the team’s head coach this season. Our coaching staff will also consist of Paul Krawetz and Dave Schrie. The entire coaching staff will make every attempt to ensure that this is the most fun season the players have ever had. At this age, the emphasis will be on having fun, developing core technical skills and playing with a great sense of sportsmanship. Our focus throughout the season will be on player development and creating a positive team environment. It is important to create an encouraging culture from the players, coaches and parents. We always want the kids to look forward to playing hockey and have fun on the ice so we expect to hear lots of cheers and you can never have enough cowbells!

I just want to forward some key information to be aware of prior to the start of the season.

 Schedule

Practice: Our practice time is Wednesday, 7:00pm-8:00pm at Clearwater Blue. This will be our practice time for the entire season; it does not change/rotate. We will be practicing with the Grey Team. Both team’s coaches have decided to share the full ice surface at times during the practices in order to more fully develop our players skills while making practice more fun for the kids. Our first practice is next week, Wednesday, September 20th – 7:00-8:00pm, Clearwater Blue.

Games: Games will be played on Sunday mornings this year with the first game of the morning starting at 7am. The game schedule is not yet posted on the SHA website.

Below is the link to our team page on the SHA website:

Exhibition Games

The first few games of the season will be exhibition. These exhibition games will provide the opportunity to evaluate players and ensure that all teams are balanced and competitive. Please be aware that there will be some movement of players during this time and possibly up to the Christmas break. The movement will try to remain minimal, but player movements can be expected in an effort to balance the teams in the league.

  Respect In Sport Parent Program

As a reminder, one parent per family must complete the Parent Respect in Sport Module before your player may participate any Alliance Hockey Program. If your child played last season, you will already have completed this and will not need to do it again. Please follow the link below if you have not had the opportunity to complete the program:

Jerseys and Numbers

Jerseys will be handed out at the first practice on a first come, first served basis. All of the jerseys are adult sized from Small on up. The lower numbers are the smaller sizes. The goalie shirt is #30.

 The Team

We have a great mix of 2005 and 2006 players. I know that everyone is wondering whose on our team so here they are in random order: Nick Newton-Westman, Liam Murray, Liam McCurdy, Braedon Babenko, Braedon MacLean, River Tremain, Carson Brooks, Warren Hunt, Joey “Hurricane” Hungler, Myatt Sterling, Oliver Krawetz, Matt Schrie and Vaughn Fenwick.

How cool is that to have 2 Liam’s and 2 Braedan’s?!!!!

Questions / Comments

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions - feel free to send me an email with any questions or comments. Let us know if there are particular skills that you would like to see the coaches focus on for the development of your player. If there are any special details regarding a player that the coaching staff needs to be aware of, please let us know. Each of the 8 teams in our league has 13 players including the goalie so all players will get a lot of ice time and a lot of instruction! With 12 skaters we’re really looking forward to great attendance from everyone including the 7am games LOL.

Email Confirmation

The list I received from Sarnia Hockey has only one email contact for each player. If you would like additional email addresses or phone numbers added to my list, please let me know and I will update the team contact list. We will use a group team text and email as the primary contact for team correspondence so I want to make sure that we have all contact emails.

Thanks and looking forward to a great season!

GO RED WINGS !!!
