Minor Atom A/AA Tryout Dates are upon us!
Welcome to the Minor Atom Sting A/AA team site. Tryout season is about to begin! Please refer to the Team Calendar tab to the left to make note of all our tryout sessions. Our first tryout is being held Wednesday May 1 at 6:00-7:30pm at PASA Rink 1

If you have not already done so, please make sure to register your child for tryouts at the following link: https://sarniahockey.com/Pages/4097/Tryout_Information_and_Online_Registration_Form/
Those who have not registered and paid the $60 fee in advance of tryouts on Wednesday will NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE ICE.

Currently, more than 50 players have registered for tryouts - which is great but presents many challenges. As such, for Tryout 1 only - we will be dividing the 90 minutes into two separate 45 minute sessions.  We will separate kids alphabetically; thus, it is important for you to refer to the website Wednesday to determine if you are skating in the first session (6:00-6:45) or the second session (6:46-7:30).
Each session will include a skating warm-up, followed by very very basic drills testing skating, transitioning, passing, puck handling, and shooting. We do not have time for the players to learn a new drill, hence the need for very basic drills. Each session will conclude with a 15 minute scrimmage.

PLEASE BRING YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE TO THE FIRST TRYOUT. Further, please remember to bring your own socks, jersey, and water bottle. A jersey will be assigned to you, but we may be using pinnies so please have a jersey in case the pinnies are obnoxiously large. Also, please allow an additional 10 minutes to your normal suiting-up time as you will need to sign in and be assigned a jersey. My wife Cynthia will be in the lobby to greet you!

Each registrant is entitled to a minimum of two tryouts. Wednesday's skate will count as 1 of your tryouts. Cutting the ice time in half from 90 to 45 minutes will provide for less down time between drills and provide your child with more drill reps and puck-touches than having all 50+ kids on the ice at the same time. This will thereby provide our evaluators an opportunity to view each player individually more than once.

There will be releases after the first skate on Wednesday! This is due simply to having such high numbers and an abbreviated tryout season. If your child is released after Wednesday's skate, I thank you in advance for your interest and I encourage you to pursue MD tryouts with Head Coach Kevin Forbes. Those tryouts begin May 25. Please refer to their website at https://sarniahockey.com/Teams/2046/

If you are interested in coming out on Wednesday, but are not able to make it, please contact me by text at 519-381-1326 or by email at [email protected]

Thanks everyone and GOOD LUCK!! See you all Wednesday!
