1.09 - Dressing Room Policy

1.09.01 – Purpose


Sarnia Hockey Association (SHA) is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all its members, while promoting the sport of ice hockey. This Dressing Room Policy outlines the standards and guidelines for the use of dressing rooms, showers and change areas.  This policy is aligned with Hockey Canada, Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) and the MINOR HOCKEY ALLIANCE OF ONTARIO (ALLIANCE) regulations and prioritizes participant safety.

 
1.09.02– Scope


a) This policy applies to all SHA participants including but not limited to Players, Team Officials and Officials while participating in ice hockey activities such as games or practices where dressing room facilities are required. 

b) This policy does not apply to extra-circular team activities outside of the dressing room.

 
1.09.03 – Definitions


a) All definitions for this policy are outlined in Section 2 of the Ontario Dressing Room Policy.  


1.09.04 – Dressing Room Policy

 
a) SHA shall adhere to the Ontario Dressing Room Policy and all its revisions effective February 1st, 2024. 

b) SHA shall use the Ontario Dressing Room Implementation Guide in application of this policy 


1.09.05 – Requests for Accommodations

 
a) Any participant may seek accommodation for a dressing room facility that meets their individual needs in accordance with the Ontario Dressing Room Policy Section 6 and 7

b) Any coach or player that requires accommodations for dressing room facilities may do so by contacting one or more of the following members in writing:


i) Head Coach
ii) Category Director 
iii) Division Director; or
iv) Category Vice Chair


c) Any SHA Official that requires accommodations for dressing room facilities may do so by contacting one or more of the following members in writing:


i) SHA Director of Officiating
ii) Vice-Chair Recreational; or
iii) Vice-Chair Administration

 
1.09.06 – Complaints


a) Any participant may submit a written complaint to the SHA Chairperson or SHA First Vice Chair.  All complaints will be confidential and shall be addressed in accordance with the Ontario Dressing Room Policy Section 8 by the Category Vice Chair
