APPENDIX 3.06A - Table of Responsibilities for Team Officials

Head Coach

 

- Lead and manage the team’s development and game strategies.

- Ensure all coaching staff adhere to policies and regulations.

- Oversee player development and maintain a safe team environment.

- Supervise team staff and ensure compliance with OHF and SHA regulations.

- Maintain the Rule of Two in dressing rooms.

- Manage affiliate player process and ensure proper eligibility.

- Address and resolve team conflicts following SHA Policy 1.05.

- Ensure injury reporting and medical clearances before player return.

- Reports directly to SHA on team-related issues.

Assistant Coach

- Support the Head Coach in team management and game strategies.

- Assist with player development and skill enhancement.

- Provide supervision during team activities and ensure adherence to SHA safety policies.

- Works under the guidance of the Head Coach

Trainer

- Ensure player health, safety, and injury prevention.

- Manage injury assessments, scene management, and emergency protocols.

- Maintain up-to-date certification in sports first aid and emergency response.

- Report injuries to SHA per Policy 2.05.

- A mandatory role on all teams.

Manager

- Handle administrative and logistical team operations.

- Manage team schedules, equipment, and financial matters.

- Organize and conduct required team meetings.

- Maintain financial transparency and submit reports per SHA Policy 2.00.14.

- Manage team fundraising and sponsorships.

- Coordinate team documentation (rosters, permits, emergency contacts).

- Secure travel permits for exhibitions and tournaments.

- Maintain proper sign-out/in of SHA-issued equipment.

- Responsible for compliance with SHA financial policies.

Helper

- Assist with team activities but is not officially rostered.

- Can help with on-ice training, locker room supervision, or team events

- Must comply with SHA volunteer requirements.

All Team Officials

- Obtain and maintain required qualifications and certifications.

- Submit Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and OHF Screening Declaration Form (SDF).

- Adhere to ALLIANCE Code of Conduct and SHA policies.

- Promote respect, fairness, and ethical behavior.

- Ensure compliance with OHF Minimum Suspension List.

- Encourage positive communication with players, parents, officials, and SHA representatives.

- Follow tampering and recruiting guidelines (OHF Playing Regulation H)

- May be required to sign SHA Team Officials Commitment Form

- Accountable for behavior, violations may lead to suspension or removal.
