Benton DeGurse was eligible for an OHF Scholarship through his participation with Sarnia Hockey. Benton has played on House League/Recreational, MD and A/AA Teams.
Benton DeGurse is one of this years recipients for the Ontario Hockey Federation Scholarship valued at $1000. He has played hockey in Sarnia at all levels and catagories. While growing up here in Sarnia, his love for the game stretched beyond the ice. Benton, along with a few teammates & friends, created a charity called skating for backpacks which used hockey as a catalyst to raise awareness for homelessness in the Sarnia-Lambton region and ran fundraising skating days to create 20 backpacks full of everyday necessities to donate to the less fortunate in our community. He has also volunteered within the game by coaching elementary school hockey, teaching at the U7 level, and shooting at Paul Burgees Goalie School. He will be taking Engineering at the University of Western Ontario next year.
From all of us at Sarnia Hockey - Good Luck!
