Becoming a Captain
The captains of the Sarnia Sabers Bantam Select team will need to show the attributes of good leadership. Some of those are :
HONESTY INTEGRITY INITIATIVE MOTIVATION PASSION
Showing the coaches those attributes tells us you are ready to fill the role and take on the responsibility of being a captain of a hockey team. By completing a few tasks, any player on this team can enter himself into the running to be Captain.
Task # 1 - To be completed by our 1st Practice - 12 October 2018
Sew a 'C' onto a practice jersey. By taking the time to learn to sew, it shows a leader that sometimes they need to ask for help to solve a problem. But even with help, they still need to solve the problem with their own two hands and a little work ethic.
Task # 2 - To be completed by our 2nd Practice - 19 October 2018
Research a Coach and Captain (any sport) and how their relationship helped build the rest of the team. Provide a quick talk to the team in the dressing room about who they researched and what they learned. A leader needs to be able to stand up and talk to their team about anything.
Task # 3 - To be completed by our 3rd Practice - 26 October 2018
Research a rule in the Hockey Canada rule book and bring it up to the coaches as if the player was speaking to an official in a game. A team captain needs to be able to advocate for his team on the ice. They are the voice of the team and need to be able to communicate with the game officials.
