Heading
into Friday’s third and final tryout, there are a few things I would like to communicate
before we complete the tryout process.
I feel it is important for you to have all the information so
that you can make the best decision for you and your player before the team
roster is finalized. The worst thing for a coach is to go back to a released
player and ask them to fill an open spot.
1.
Commitment
a.
We will be looking at 1 practice per week. I am
planning to add in professional skills sessions to help strengthen our players
and goalies.
b.
Maximum of 30 games including tournaments – I
plan to try and max this out.
c.
Commitment hierarchy – 1. House league team 2. APs
to their BB team 3. Select team. I am also a house league coach co conflicts
will be managed as best we can.
2.
Financial
a.
The Select Team is 100% parent funded – Meaning
anything we do from ice time to tournaments to swag is all funded through the
parent group. Cost saving measures such as sponsorship and fundraising will be
discussed as a group in the initial parent meeting.
b.
There will be a per player fee to cover the
expenses and this will be discussed at the parent meeting.
3.
The Team
a.
The team will consist of 17 players including 15
skaters and 2 goalies. As per policy the final roster will be passed on to SHA
for approval. First they will look at player eligibility and secondly that
there is a minimum 30% of the younger (2013) age group on the roster before it
will be approved and can be released.
b.
We plan to offer AP positions to up to 9 players
including 2 goalies. AP players will be offered the same practice opportunities
as the team for a nominal fee.
4.
Coaching Staff
a.
I am aiming for a coaching staff of 3 people, 1
trainer, and a team Manager. These will all be volunteer positions.
b.
After the team is announced anyone wishing to
volunteer can contact me otherwise this will be discussed at the parent meeting.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach
out me directly.
Please appreciate that I cannot now tell anyone “they are on
the team” or “they have been released” as per Policy.
Looking forward to Fridays skate! 7:15 to 8:15pm
Clearwater Arena!
