What to Expect
My name is Ryan Gervais, and I would like to welcome you to the 2025-26 U15 Select tryout process. I’m looking forward to having a competitive tryout and building a team of strong players on and off the ice. My focus this year will be creating good habits to allow all the players to develop and work together as a team.
The additional coaching staff will be selected AFTER the team has been picked to ensure that no tampering happens. I will look forward to introducing the complete staff once that time comes.
Tournaments (subject to change):
We will be entering at least 3 tournaments throughout the season as follows:
Motown Cup - Detroit - Oct 17-19
Dan Pulham - London - Dec 5-7
Family Day Weekend - Stoney Creek - Feb 13-15 - Stay & Play
TBD: Alliance Championship - Kitchener - Easter Weekend April 2-5 - Stay & Play
Development:
The plan this year is to bring in some extra support throughout the season to help the players and goalies develop. My philosophy is creating high intensity practices and there is no better way to up the intensity from time to time then to bring in some experts such as, PEP, Darkhouse Goaltending (Sponsored by Cousi), etc to supplement our own coaching staff.
Tryouts:

We are committed to running a fair and professional evaluation process. No parents of players trying out will be involved in evaluations. Players will be assessed on their skating, compete level, decision-making, demeanor on and off the ice, ability to follow instructions, communication and leadership qualities, and overall contribution within a team structure. The Tryout Selection Committee will assist in the formation of our team. We will conduct skills sessions, scrimmages and exhibition games.
Please review Sarnia Hockey Policy 2.02.04 - Participant Registration under paragraph d) to see if your child is eligible to play Select.
COSTS:
We will host a Mandatory Parent Meeting TBD which will be held at Clearwater Arena Meeting Room (at red rink) to approve the season budget. The approximate fees this year will be about $1300-$1400 before any sponsorship. Fit night will occur on a date TBD at Planet Stitch/Ice Authority.
If you have any questions ahead of time, please don’t hesitate to reach out – with the new Tampering Policies please reach out via email.
Sincerely,
Ryan Gervais,
Head Coach
