Bantam MD Team International Silver Stick Champions!!!
Submitted By Amanda Madere on Sunday, January 19, 2020
Huge congrats to the 2005 Sarnia Sting MD team on winning the 2019/2020 Pelham International Silver Stick Bantam/AE division.

These kids went 1-0-2 in the round robin, getting a 3-3 vs Mount Brydges, a 1-1 tie vs the Cadillac Vikings (Midland Michigan Regional champs) and a 3-0 win over the Arapahoe Warriors (Westminister Colorado regional champs).

They faced adversity losing a key player to injury; the team had already lost 2 key players earlier this season, and now would play down 3 players. They came out hard in the quarter finals, getting 6 goals from 6 different players in a 6-1 win over the Exton Kings (Ashton Pennsylvania regional champs).

The semi finals were set, Sarnia would play Halton Hills, while the Centre Wellington Fusion (Sarnia lost to Fusion at the Chatham Regional final) faced Mount Brydges. Bantam MD Sting found themselves down early 3-0. It appeared their parade to the box would be their downfall, then a shift in momentum started when they switched goalies. Sarnia would rally, scoring 4 unanswered to win 4-3! While it was hoped the Sting would get a rematch with the Centre Wellington Fusion in the finals, Mount Brydges Cougars would hang on to a 2-1 win as many Sting players watched on...the finals were set.

Sarnia Vs Mount Brydges for the prestigious Silver Stick. Sarnia would get off to an early start, scoring just 19 seconds in and would never look back. After 1, the Sting led 5-0 and would hold onto win 5-3, securing their place in history as the 2019/2020 Pelham International Silver Stick Champions!
