Congratulations to Ruth Ann Windover First Ever Lifetime Honourary Member of Sarnia Hockey Association!
Ruth Ann was born and raised in Moore Township.
Following University, she became a teacher with the Lambton Board of Education. With husband Lloyd, she supported sons as they played fastball, baseball, ball and ice hockey. She was an active member of the SMAA hockey mothers in the mid 80’s and in 1989 became the Chairperson of that group. In 1991, she was elected chairperson of SMAA hockey. She held that position until amalgamation with ESMAA. In 1993, she became the local representative of the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario. After amalgamation, she became the Ice Scheduler for SHA for representative ‘AA’ and ‘A’ teams. During this time, in 1993, she was active organizing an in-line hockey program which ran out of Pt. Edward. She was actively involved with the Lambton ‘AAA’ organization. She was also active with a committee that selects RBC scholarship winners nominated from local hockey teams. She has actively worked as a timekeeper for SHA tournaments including Silver Stick. She is also active in other non-profit groups including Sarnia Little Theater and the local Optimist club. Because of their work in hockey and in-line hockey, she along with husband Lloyd was elected as life members of the SMAA. She and Lloyd were also elected to the Sarnia/Lambton Hall of Fame.
Ruth Ann is the first volunteer to be given life membership in Sarnia Hockey Association.
