Bradford Blue & Gold Classic Champions Jan. 13-15th
Submitted By J. Kelch on Monday, January 16, 2017
The Sarnia Jr Sting Minor Bantam MD participated in the Bradford Blue & Gold Classic hockey tournament on Jan 13-15th weekend. The weekend was very successful, the team went 4-0 winning the championship Sunday versus Waterloo Wolves White 3-0.

Friday the team played two games, they beat the London Bandits whom we know very well from league play 2-0, later that afternoon the team played Brampton Marlies winning 9-0.

Saturday afternoon we played the Waterloo Wolves in the round robin winning 3-1.  Both teams at that point were 2-0 and we knew we were playing each other in the championship finals on Sunday.

Sunday was a tough game scoring chances for both teams, the Sting scored on their first shift of the game leading 1-0 until the third period where our defense made a great play to keep the puck in and get a shot off which was tipped out front for a 2-0 lead. The Sting scored an empty netter for the 3-0 win.

Players of the game for the weekend went to Jacob Zalesak, Josh Riley Meyer, Carson Vandervies, Mason Winegard Milne. Special mention to our goalies for a 0.25 GAA for the weekend awesome work, also the defensemen all 6 of them played extremely well, great job on their one on ones, great out let passing to the forwards & clearing rebounds. Every player played extremely well. Keep it up for playoffs.

Thanks Coach Jason
