Purpose of the SHA Coach Union
The Coach Union of Sarnia Hockey Association (SHA) exists to provide a supportive and collaborative platform for our minor hockey coaches. Its primary purpose is to serve as a resource hub where coaches can seek guidance, share experiences, and find practical solutions to the various challenges they face in the ever-evolving minor hockey environment.

The Union aims to foster a culture of learning, open dialogue, and mentorship by addressing areas such as:

  • Player development strategies
  • Team management
  • Conflict resolution
  • Best practices for engaging with parents and players
  • Navigating SHA policies and hockey regulations

By promoting consistent communication and offering accessible answers to common coaching concerns, the Coach's Union ensures that all coaches are well-equipped to contribute positively to the growth and success of the minor hockey community.

The Union is open to everyone, whether you’re a seasoned coach with years of experience or someone stepping into the role for the first time. It is designed to be an inclusive space where all levels of coaching expertise are valued and where both new and veteran coaches can continue to learn and grow. Regardless of background, every coach has something to contribute, and together, we create a stronger community for our players.

One of the central purposes behind participation in minor hockey, and community sports in general, is to help individuals discover and develop their leadership potential. Whether someone’s goal is to make a positive impact in the lives of young players, become a community leader, or even pursue a career as a professional sports coach, the Coach's Union is here to support that journey. By fostering leadership skills, teamwork, and a passion for the game, the Union empowers coaches to not only influence the players they mentor but also to inspire the broader community.
