U6 Information
Welcome to the U6 division for Sarnia Hockey.

Sorry for the delay as it has been very difficult organizing things this year.

Please see the following information as there is a lot to go over (Schedule, Equipment, Coaches/Volunteers, COVID-19 Restrictions) so I apologize in advance for the long message.

If you have registered in this division and have not received an email from us please contact me ASAP at [email protected]. There are a few players registered who we were not provided an email address for so we would be happy to get in contact with you to provide you with what team you are on.

If you had initially registered and have chosen to opt out of hockey this year due to the vaccine restrictions or for any other reason, please reply to the above email address so it can get sorted out with our registrar.

Schedule

The schedule for the U6 division is every Saturday morning in one of four time slots between 8am and noon at PASA Rink #2 (it’s the cold side so dress warm). The schedule can be found on the link below:

Equipment

Equipment for hockey players includes:

Helmet and facial protector

BNQ approved neck protector (mandatory)

Shoulder pads

Elbow pads

Gloves

Hockey Pants

Athletic supporter and protective cup

Shin pads

Skates

Stick

*Jerseys and Socks will be provided but it is best if you dress the kids in the equipment at home (minus skates gloves and helmet) due to arena rules which I will get to later in the email.

Please write your child's name on a piece of tape on the front or back of the helmet. This will make it much easier for on-ice helpers to communicate with them.  It is also a good idea to write their names on their sticks, as some games will have kids throwing sticks in a pile and this will help to make sure everyone gets the proper stick back.

Coaches/Volunteers

With this age group the more help on the ice the better. If you intend on going onto the ice to volunteer you will need to wear skates and a helmet.

Also, anyone who intends on volunteering in any capacity within Sarnia Hockey must submit their Covid 19 vaccination records. You will not be able to go on the ice or help out until this form is completed. This shouldn't take any more than 5 minutes of your time and can be completed by clicking on the link below:

https://sarniahockey.com/Forms/7788/21_22_-_COVID19_Vaccine_Certificate_Submission/

Anyone who is going to be volunteering will also be required to submit a vulnerable sector criminal record check (CRC). It is expected that you complete these by the start of the season if possible. If you live within the City of Sarnia you can use the link below to get started:

COVID-19 Restrictions

COVID-19 restrictions are still in place at the arenas and everyone will need to screen themselves prior to coming to hockey and show proof of vaccination before being able to enter. This year we will be using the Sportsheadz app to streamline this process. We will have more info on this once we get going.

Doors are typically open 20 minutes before ice time, and close and lock 5 minutes before, so it pays to be early. We recommend you have the kids partially dressed in their equipment upon arrival.

Thanks for your time and we are looking forward to a great hockey season!
