Respect
As the league playoffs start back up this week and games become more important to the players and teams, I want to remind all the players, coaches and families not to lose sight of basic respect for everyone. Everyone includes but is not limited to all players, coaches, officials and spectators.

After watching many games at our very exciting Winter Classic Tournament this past week I couldn’t help but notice the lack of respect taking place at times during these games. Please remember the kids are here to play a game they love and are trying their best.  They are not always perfect and they will make mistakes. They don’t need grown adults screaming at them for a miss play. All the coaches are volunteers, they are generously giving their time to give our kids the best experience possible. Please help them make this season a great experience. The officials are human they make mistakes and can’t always see everything we think they should. They are trying their best and also deserve respect from all the parents, coaches and players. No official is going to change their call because someone is yelling at them.

We all had to take ‘Respect in Sport’ before we registered our kids. Please don’t forget the lessons provided in this course. As adults we are teaching and setting an example to our kids, on how to behave, interact and treat others in society. Let’s collectively set a positive example to our players and in-still the importance of trying hard, respecting others, winning gracefully and losing with dignity.

Let’s cheer on our kids and have a positive, exciting and successful second half to our season. Good Luck to all the teams in a race to the finish.
