An outstanding performance by an outstanding group of kids!
Your Sarnia U10 BB Sting took home a Championship Gold at
the Nazem Kadri tournament this weekend in London!
It was a great team effort all weekend as everyone stepped up their game and
played with a purpose. The positional play, passing, and compete level all
turned up a notch and was great experience to be a part of!
After a close round robin, the boys locked in and turned in dominating
performances in the quarter finals against London North and semifinals against
London Bandits in order to punch a ticket to the finals against a great rival
in the Waterloo Wolves.
The Sting saved their best for last in the finals and got out to a 3-0 lead in
the first period and never trailed at any point, bringing home their first
Championship banner of the season with a 5-3 win!
Stellar goaltending was provided all weekend by Jack Day and Anthony Ferrera,
and combined with our defence core they held the opponents to 4 goals in 3
games through elimination play.
We had a lot of players contributing offensively this weekend, but special
recognition to Liam Hoekstra, Braxton Sommise, and Edward Garton for a strong
tournament in the goal scoring department!
Lastly a special thanks to the coaching staff and our parent group for their hard
work and support of the team throughout this early season. The team's success on and off the ice is in no small part
due to your ongoing efforts!
Ideally this will be the first of many banners to come this season!
Looking forward to watching the ongoing progress and as always...
GO STING GO!
