U11 BB International Silverstick Finalists!
What an amazing experience for all our boys as the Sarnia Sting U11 BB once again prove they are a top contender!
A big thank you to the Silverstick Committee and all the volunteers for putting on a great show for the kids!
Your Sarnia Sting U11 BB were in for a wild ride at the International Silverstick Finals in Forest over the weekend.
After gutting it out in a hard-fought Regional Qualifier in Alvinston, the boys were in the thick of it yet again facing some of the best in their division from not only within the Province but also a pair of teams from the United States.
True to form, the Sting went undefeated in the round robin play, going 4-0 to secure top the top seed after group play and a trip to the finals with an opportunity to take home a coveted Silver Stick!
Unfortunately the hockey Gods were not with us in the finals, and despite being able to beat them in round robin play the #3 ranked Napanee Jr. Stars came out on top in the championship game of the tournament.
The puck luck was just not there for the Sting in the finals as a number of bad bounces found their way to the back of our net. Despite the outcome the boys played a great game and should be proud of their efforts.
Also a lot of deserving credit needs to go to a great Napanee Jr. Stars team who battled hard in both games we faced them! We saw great sportsmanship between the players and coaches before/during/after the games, and look forward to playing them again at some point in the future.
Congratulations to the winners, and also to our boys who proved once again that they are right there at the top with the best in their age group/division!
Great work boys and we are very proud of all you have already accomplished and that which you will continue to accomplish in this memorable season!
As always,
GO STING GO!
