Rules For the Tournament
Following are the rules that will be used for this years tournament 

2018 TOURNAMENT RULES

           

All teams MUST register (at the tournament office) where they play their first game at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled start time. Centre approved rosters and travel permit forms must be presented for officials to verify player eligibility before their first game. Tournament game sheets are supplied but must be filled out at the tournament office prior to each game. Car keys are to be left with the tournament officials in exchange for dressing room keys.

 

1.         Only players that are listed on your team’s first tournament game sheet are allowed to play in the tournament. Use of ineligible player(s) or any teams subjected to a forfeit will be penalized with a 3-0 loss.

 

2.         All games will be three (3) 10 minute stop time periods.

 

3.         There will be a 3 minute warm up time prior to the start of each game which will commence as soon as the Zamboni doors are shut and both teams are on the ice.

 

4.         Teams will shake hands at the start of each game.

 

5.         All Hockey Canada rules will apply.

 

6.         No time outs during round robin games and only 1 (30 second) timeout per team allowed during final games.     

·         No more than a five goal spread will be displayed on the score clock.

·         Clock will continue to run provided a 5 goal spread exists, but only in the third period.

·         Stop time will resume once the teams are back to within a 4 goal spread. 

 

7.         Points will be awarded during the preliminary games as follows:

·         TWO points for a win

·         ONE point for a tie

·         ZERO points for a loss

 

8.         These tiebreaker rules will apply to determine finalists after the round robin games:

·         The two teams with the highest points advances.

·         If two or more teams are tied (in points) then the highest GF% will automatically advance.

·         Formula = [Goals scored divided by (goals scored + goals against)]

·         “Regardless” of the number of wins a team might have accumulated.

·         Fastest, first goal scored during round robin play.

·         Flip of the coin.

 

9.         Semi – Final games: Winners of any semi-final game will advance regardless of their ranking during round robin play.

 

10.       All Semi – Final & Finalist games that are tied after 3 periods will be decided in overtime.

            A 5 minute run time (4 on 4) sudden victory overtime period will be used.

            However, if teams remain tied additional 5 minute run time period(s) with a minimum of (3 on 3) will

            be used until a winner is declared.

            In the event that a player is penalized within the last 2 minutes of regulation time their penalty will

            continue into the overtime period.

 

 

*Note overtime penalties* A penalized player will serve a minimum 3 minutes run time penalty and will carry over into the next period. *However* after the first overtime period the non-offending team will add 1 player (4 on 3 power play); whereas the offending team will still play with the minimum number of (3) players. When the penalty has expired the offending player may re-join the play and both sides will play 4 on 4. At the first stoppage both teams will return to 3 on 3.

 

11.       Any player or team official who receives a fighting major, gross misconduct, match, or attempt to injury penalty will be suspended for the remainder of the tournament with no refund.

 

 

12.       Playoff Qualifications: 

·         MAJOR NOVICE – After round robin games: First place & Second place will advance to the Championship Game.

·         ATOM – After round robin games:  First place Pool “A” & First place Pool “B” will advance to the Championship Game.

·         PEEWEE – After round robin games: First place & Second place will advance to the Championship Game.

·         BANTAM – After round robin games:  First place & Second place will advance to the Championship Game.

·         MIDGET 2 – After round robin games:  First place & Second place will advance to the Championship Game.

·         MIDGET 1 – After round robin games: Winner GN# 8 & Winner GN# 7 will advance to the Championship Game.

 

13.       Teams will be responsible for any damages to dressing rooms and other arena facilities.  Please report any damages to Tournament Officials before using assigned dressing room.

 

14.       Parents: A parent that is ejected from the arena during the tournament for verbally abusing an official or making a travesty must leave IMMEDIATELY and may not be allowed to participate as a spectator for the duration of the tournament. Should the parent(s) refuse to leave in a timely fashion, the game shall be forfeited.  Team officials ARE required to supply the name of any parent(s) ejected to Tournament Officials. Failure to do so shall result in the immediate withdrawal of the team from tournament play.  THIS WILL BE ENFORCED.

 

  • Coaches may challenge a game but must do so (at the tournament office) within 30 minutes after completion of the game in question.

 

  • Decisions are entirely at the discretion of the Tournament Directors and are FINAL.
