Atom House League Game Summary - Week of November 8, 2014
Another exciting weekend in McDonald’s Atom House League hockey saw the Orange team face off against Black, while the Gold team battled White, and the Teal team took on the Red team.

In the first game of the day, McDonald’s Orange faced MacDonald’s Black. The first period saw Orange come out of the gate strong and hungry for a win as Finton Allen scored the first three goals of the game attaining a natural hat trick in only the first period. Nathan Knight of the Black team scored a late first period goal in an attempt to come back from an early deficit with a nice, crisp pass from Noah Taylor who picked up the assist. The second period was a very tight battle, although the goaltending of Orange was the difference maker as Black failed to score in the second while Orange added three more tallies including a nice shot in the last minute of play by Jack Hogan. In the third period, Orange continued to show hustle as they scored three more goals including two assists from playmaker Noah Griffith. Both teams played a good, fast-paced game as Orange took the W in a 9-2 victory.

The second game of the day showcased McDonald’s Teal battle against McDonald’s Red. Goaltending and defense was a crucial factor in the first period as both teams failed to score a goal. Enough was enough for the Red team as they came out hard in the second period with two quick goals from Reece Hardick to put the Red team up two after two periods. The action went back and forth in the third while the goalies continued to play a very solid in net. Luke Fawdry would open the scoring for Teal as he snuck one past Red with assists from both Connor (Gui?) and Gavin Mackinnon. Red continued to work hard as they managed to net three more goals in the third to take a 5-1 victory over Teal. An exciting game to end yet another exciting weekend of McDonald’s Atom House League hockey. Tremendous hard work and hustle was shown by both teams.

The third and final game at Germain Arena sawMcDonald’s Gold and McDonald’s White. The Gold proved they came to win as Kody Heamen scored an early unassisted goal just a minute and eighteen seconds into the game, but not to but outdone by Quintin Bouma of the White team, as he wristed a shot in to tie the game after one period of play. The White team carried over their momentum into the second period as they took a lead halfway through the period with a nice shot from Rebecca Haney assisted by Leigha Maitland. Gold pushed hard to net an equalizer but could not do so until the third period when Jaxon Triantos skated around the White team defenders and netted the game-tying goal.  Gold would then take control of the game scoring two more goals to take a two-goal lead late in the game. Kyle Moore of White set up Haney for her second goal late in the game but the effort fell just short as Gold took the win in a close 4-3 game. An exciting game to end yet another exciting weekend of McDonald’s Atom House League hockey.
