The Sarnia Sting Bantam MD team travelled to South Bend, Indiana, and specifically to the University of Notre Dame to participate in the Irish South Bend Cup November 7-9.
The boys opened up the tournament with a win against St. Peter's Spirit hockey club on the 'Lefty Smith' ice pad at the University of Notre Dame. The team controlled much of the play to take a 4-1 victory. The tournament continued on Saturday at Notre Dame with the boys edging out Compuware by a score of 4-2. Later Saturday night, the Sting played the Windsor Spitfires and handily won that game 5-1.
Wow, 3 wins and no losses was a great way to put our stamp on the round robin portion of the tournament! This placed us directly into the final where the boys dominated the Windsor Spitfires team again to win the whole tournament by a score of 7-2.
The boys are to be congratulated on a very successful 1st tournament of the season winning all 4 games they played to become the Irish South Bend CHAMPIONS!!
