U12 B/BB, 2023-2024, B/BB (Sarnia Hockey)

On the weekend of February 9th to 11th, the U12 B/BB Sarnia Sting participated in in the Burlington Junior Raiders Showdown.  The team dominated the competition outscoring the opposition 17 to 1 in the round robin and then shutout the Aurora Tigers 3 – 0 in the finals.  It was a great bonding experience for the team and you should be very proud of your accomplishments this weekend.

On the weekend of January 3 to 5, 2024, the U12 B/BB Sarnia Sting participated in the Buffalo Outdoor Tournament in Buffalo, New York.  Although we finished with a 1 and 2 record in the round robin, we did win the consolidation final against the Whitby Wildcats.  The team showed heart, fire and grit playing in the United States against bigger and older teams. A great experience for the team playing outdoors and playing a more physical brand of hockey.

The team finished in Second place at the Dan Pulham Tournament in London on December 1 to 3 losing 4 to 3 in overtime to Oakridge Aeros. We went 1-1-1 in the round robin and made the finals after winning an overtime game against the London Bandits. Some bounces did not go our way in the finals, but it was an excellent performance by the team at this tournament.

Great performance by the team in Black and Yellow this weekend at the Motown Cup in Detroit. Although the youngest team in our pool, the team played great against bigger teams and held their own.  We started the weekend by the team watching the Montreal Canadians play the Detroit Red Wings at Little Ceasers Arena on the Thursday night before the tournament where the Canadians beat the Wings 3 to 2 in overtime.  For several of our players, this was their first NHL hockey game. First, everyone should be commended on how they skated this week.  This is a very deep talent base at U12 and made the evaluation for my 6-person non-parent evaluation committee and myself very hard.  We had to make some very difficult decisions and we wish all the best for those that do not appear on this list.  For anyone who did not make the team, keep working hard, be a team player, skate lots, look for opportunities to play more and please tryout again next year – you are close to making this team.
