Lose One, Win One
The Atom A/AA spent the weekend at home for a pair of games versus the St. Thomas Stars & the Brantford 99ers, gaining a split of the two highly contested games. The Sting suffer a tough 3-2 lose to the Stars on Saturday but rebound with a 5-2 win against a tough Brantford squad.
Caden Cormier played a magnificent game on Saturday repeatedly turning away the tough St. Thomas Club. However, the offense was only able to get two behind a very good Stars netminder. Janssens scored one assisted by Krasinkiewicz & Plain. The Sting could only inch a little closer when Antosiak fed Janssens for a breakaway late in the third. Janssens was hauled down & a penalty shot was awarded to the hard working effort. Bad news!! Janssens, the sniper, is hurt on the play!!! Coach makes a tough call & sends out Plain to try & make the Stars pay. Plain scores on a beauty. Final Stars 3, Sting 2.
Sunday brought a hard working effort from all 3 "new" lines. Crombeen was huge in the net, exciting the Sting faithful. He brought the sold out crowd to their feet on several occasions providing the timely saves when needed. The Sting opened the scoring early on a sneaky little goal by Janssens & the boys never looked back building a 4-0 lead. Singles added by Simpson, Hazzard, Wallace & Sptizig adds his first goal of the season from his new home at centre. Assists were credited to Wallace, Babcock, Hazzard & Antosiak.
