Welcome from Coach - Important Tryout Info
“The only thing that stands between you and your dream is the will to try and the belief that it is actually possible” Joel Brown

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all players coming out to the 2015/2016 Sarnia Sting Major Atom AA Tryouts.

My name is Paul Futers I have over 36 years of Coaching experience at a wide variety of levels from MD to AA to AAA to Junior Prospects. Many past players I have had the honor of Coaching have developed and moved on to greater and better things playing at the highest levels possible. I have experience in playing the game having played to the level of Junior B as well as having played in the College circuit and also enjoyed playing Senior A level for two years. I feel as a Coach and Mentor I have a lot to offer from past experiences both on and off the ice I look forward to providing a positive and challenging yet fun filled environment for our players to develop and grow in as both hockey players and young men.

My Co-Coach is Nicole Futers who has a great deal of life and hockey experience which she brings to the table. She has played her hockey career from Tyke to Ladies Intermediate and Junior here in Canada as well as NCAA in the United States and in Australia where she participated as a player/coach. This past year Nicole played Senior AA ladies on a highly competitive Team winning their League and travelling to the Provincials where they competed at a high level. Nicole and I also operate and Instruct at our Beehive Hockey Camp which is in its 15th year and in which we have found great success in the development of players of all ages allowing them to move up to play the game of hockey at higher levels.

We want to encourage all players to come out and put their best skate forward on the ice and show what they have to offer. The tryouts will be challenging fast and intense and we expect a very high level of competition from all players in attendance we also expect everyone to have fun and show us your stuff.

Nicole, myself and our evaluation Team are excited about getting things rolling and hitting the ice.

The following is our Mission Statement and Philosophy as it relates to our Coaching style and the game it self.

Mission Statement:

We believe it is our responsibility to provide a safe, challenging, intense yet fun learning and developmental environment for our players. A Team environment will be created where our players can develop not only their hockey and on ice skills but life skills and off ice skills which we trust they will carry throughout their hockey careers and into their adult lives.

Philosophy:

As Coaches and Mentors our philosophy is grounded in a strong belief in the importance of building a TEAM bringing our players together assisting them in making life long friends both on our TEAM as well with other TEAMS in other communities where we play. To gain the respect of all Teams who we play and to be known as a hard working TEAM, one that gives it our all each and every time we hit the ice.

To provide a challenging, developmental learning environment where our players can and will develop their hockey skills, learn respect for their teammates, and learn to respect the game and officials and other players.

To play with great intensity and passion, to gain skills of the game and

to be positive at all times with your Teammates as well as Coaches, game officials

Most importantly to have fun learn the true enjoyment of the game and play at our top level giving 110 percent in practice and each shift of each game.
