Dec. 13 - Western Fair Complex vs London Jr. Knights - Loss 3-0 London scored one goal in each period to shut out the Sting Minor
Midget A/AA team. Cole Lauzon made 24 saves in net and our boys took four
penalties.
Dec. 15/ - Sarnia Arena vs. Kitchener Jr. Rangers Tie 1-1
Kyle Adams had a great opportunity to score in the first but
there were no goals in the first or second periods. Callahan Doughty blocked a
shot well early in the third which led to a goal by Dillon Saunders at 13:14
assisted by Cullen Smith. Matt Szabo kept Sarnia
in the lead with a big save at 12:28. It did not last as Kitchener scored to tie it up at 10:10. Matt
kicked out 25 shots in net.
Dec. 16 - Preston Auditorium vs. Cambridge Hawks Tie 3-3
Tyler Drury and Devin Butler each made great moves to take
the puck away from attacking Hawks while short handed in the first. Cambridge scored twice in the first but Sarnia got one back in the second by Jeff
Williams assisted by Callahan Doughty. Dillon Saunders scored at 14:27 of the
third to tie it at two with Gage Riddoch assisting. Cambridge went ahead again at 8:44 on a power
play but another goal by Dillon at 1:40 assisted by Richard McIntosh tied the
game again.
Dec. 22 - Sarnia Arena vs. Stratford Warriors Loss 4-1
Stratford
scored one in the first and two in the second. Drew Morgan blocked a hard shot
in the second and Matt Szabo made a great save on the same Stratford power play. Devin Butler scored at
11:03 of the third to get one back assisted by Dillon Saunders and Kevin Durco.
The Warriors scored again at 26 seconds into the open net to seal the deal for
them.
Dec. 23 - Gretzky Centre vs. Brantford 99’s Loss 5-2
Sarnia
took the lead at the end of one on a goal by Dillon Saunders assisted by Gage
Riddoch and Richard McIntosh. Sarnia took four
penalties in the second which led to 3 goals by Brantford including a power play one. Brantford were outskating
us and outchecking us. They scored again early in the third before Kevin Durco
scored at 3:39 assisted by Dillon Saunders. Brantford added an empty net goal with one
second left in the game. Cole Lauzon made 26 saves in net to prevent the score from
being worse.
Jan. 03 - Clearwater Red/ vs. London Jr. Knights Won 2-1
The Knights scored on Matt Szabo in the first to take a 1-0
lead. Mike Pearce tied it at 5:56 of the second assisted by Gage Riddoch and
Cullen Smith. Dillon Saunders scored the winner at 17:16 of the third assisted
by Blain Adams. Matt held the puck out the rest of the way as London
outshot Sarnia
26 to 19.
Jan. 05 - Sarnia Arena vs. North London Nationals Won 3-0
Devin Butler opened the scoring at 8:58 of the first
assisted by Jeff Williams. Blain Adams added a second Sarnia goal at 10:17 of the second period
assisted by Drew Morgan and Kevin Durco. Dillon Saunders got the third at 2:18
of the second assisted by Adriano Fuoco. The third period was scoreless with
Cole Lauzon making 21 saves total in the game.
Jan. 06 - RIM Park (Optimists) vs. Waterloo Wolves Loss 2-1
Waterloo
got off to a quick start with two goals in the first period. Sarnia fought back with a goal by Kyle Adams
in the second at 3:04, assisted by Gage Riddoch. Sarnia killed two penalties in the third and
pressed for a tying goal but came up empty.
Jan.12 - Sarnia Arena vs. Hamilton Huskies Won 3-2
After a scoreless first in which Cole Lauzon made 10 saves, Hamilton opened the
scoring at 12:27 of the second period. Sarnia
came back with an amazing rush shorthanded by Shane Salisbury to score on the
deke at 4:44 unassisted. Dillon Saunders added a second at 2:55 assisted by
Drew Morgan to give the Sting the lead. Sarnia
survived six penalties in the second then added a third goal by Jeff Williams
assisted by Devin Butler and Gage Riddoch at 12:43 of the third. Hamilton made it close
with a goal with 46 seconds left in the game. Cole had 38 saves in total in net
for Sarnia.
Jan. 13 - Grand River
Arena vs. Kitchener Jr. Rangers Loss 1-0
Kitchener
scored at 11:26 of the first period for the only goal in the game. Matt Szabo
made 24 saves in net for Sarnia while Ryan Porter had the shutout for Kitchener
kicking out 19 shots.
