Sarnia Sting Minor Midgets were home Saturday afternoon at Sarnia Arena to Rochester Rattlers in an
international exhibition game. The Rattlers in their purple jerseys were short 5 players due to illness and that may have been their downfall as the Sting took a 4-2 win.
In the first after a couple of exchanges of penalties, Rochester scored the opening goal on the power play with 2:18 to go in the period.
Devin Butler scored early in the second at 14:19 to tie the score assisted by Adriano Fuoco and Mike Pearce. Rochester went ahead again at 9:57 but it didn’t last long. Blain Adams fired one in at 7:28 assisted by Tyler Drury to tie the game at 2.
Being an exhibition game, after Sarnia's tying goal, Sarnia switched goalies from Matt Szabo to Cole Lauzon. A short time later Drew Morgan laid a huge body check on a Rochester player in our end sending him airborne.
After a pair of penalties in the third, Dillon Saunders broke the tie with a goal at 12:01 assisted by Jeff Williams and Devin Butler. Jeff then put the game away with a goal at 6:50 assisted again by Devin. Sarnia outshot the Rattlers 29 to 23 to win the game 4-2.
