Maroons Continue Season Opening Series
The Mighty Maroons hit the ice early this Thanksgiving Weekend. You would never of known they were lacing up their skates before most of the city was even awake! The Maroons had a great achievement today...they are on the score sheet! Ryerson Detrich was the net minder today. His first time at this position, and what a strong performance!
The Maroons went scoreless in the 1st. Defense was strong and did a great job keeping the period tight. Grey was able to put two goals in the net near the end of the period. 2-0 Grey moving into the 2nd.
It's the 2nd period where things got exciting. Liam Marcy scored his first goal, putting the Maroons on the scoreboard and earning his PLAYER OF THE GAME puck. The Maroons kept pressing forward with great faceoff wins by Abilene Clark and Justin Flamminio. The Grey goalie was definitely ready to stand in between the Maroon offense and the back of the net!
Scoring continued in the 3rd period. A single added to the scoreboard by Logan Jones and two goals by Luke Anjema brought the Maroon total to 4 for the game. There were no assists awarded to the Mighty Maroons today, but each goal was earned by the whole team. Good work Maroons, stay focused, there is a victory in your future!
Next week Chase DeHaan will be putting on the pads to finish off our season opening series verses the Grey.
