Mighty Maroons Move into the Win Column
The Mighty Maroons hard work payed off for the team today, earning their first win of the season.  Abilene Clark was in net today earning the W for her record.  She was also this weeks PLAYER OF THE GAME!

The game was tight all the way through with a scoreless first period.  The Maroons were able to hold back the Orange waves of offense, but we unable to crack the Orange blue line.  About halfway through the second period Orange was able to break through a big defensive play and a loose puck was picked up and made it past the Maroon goaltender.  1-0 Orange at the end of the 2nd.

Luke Anjema opened up the score sheet for Maroon.  He picked up a puck from an Orange turnover and blasted into a breakaway.  He chose to shoot hard and low on the Orange goal, putting the puck in the back of the net.

The Maroon defense was working their offensive muscle today with lots of point shots from Colton Lotz.  He had 3 or 4 big shots from the point.  One of those shots eventually found it's way into the net.  Colton put a laser beam into some heavy traffic in front of the net.  The goal was awarded to Luke Anjema and assists were earned by line mates Chase DeHaan and Liam Marcy.

In off ice news, supporting his team from the stands is Mason Guerrette.  He is recovering from an off ice injury.  We will see him back soon.  As well Justin Flamminio celebrated a birthday this week.  Great Job Maroons, keep up the great work.
