Game 4 Report
Hello Team and Parents, After 4 regular season games so far we are still struggling to get our 1st win. Our effort this week was much improved with the team showing more consistent hard work and a positive attitude on the bench. The team talk after last weeks game focused on not coming off the ice after shifts and complaining about ice time, bad calls, unfair play, what colour the ice is and just about anything else that came to mind!

The talk I believe must have been taken seriously as other then a couple melt downs on the bench the overall attitude was positive, Part of the talk included being and believing in the team bonding and building of a strong team friendship and positive attitude. When team players come back to the bench and are having the " Johnny bring me down" attitude , it is contagious and effects the entire teams performance and attitude. This week we did not see that attitude ,as much, and it showed on the bench and on the ice. If the TEAM continues to believe in a positive attitude both at practice and in the games, it will make the hockey experience FUN!! Also our on ice complete full game effort still is lacking, along with the desire to attack the opposing players who have the puck and take it away!! I have noticed as I`m sure most of the team and parents have that we seem to let the other team score early and we are constantly playing catch up. We continue to mix up the lines to find some magic during the game and I would like to thank the team for being patient and accepting being asked to play different positions during the game without hesitation or complaining, that is how a team works together! At the start of the 3rd period we did make some adjustments to our line up and it paid off. I hope that everyone will remember how it felt when we scored twice in the 3rd period and how the entire bench and our fans in the stands erupted with cheers and excitement!! That is the feeling that we want to remember and repeat! As coaches it is our responsibility to get the most out of our players at practice and in the game situations. Part of that is team building and after this weeks practice we are hoping that everyone will get together to enjoy some pizza and get to know each other a little bit better! We have booked the lower hall at the arena and only ask that everyone comes out to eat and enjoy each others company. At that event we can talk about some tournament dates that I have and maybe pick one that would work. I personally feel that this team has found some traction and that it will continue to move forward with hard work and a positive team attitude, and lets not forget about the 1 minute skate drill that the team loves at practice!! Thanks and hopefully we see everyone at practice! GO VIPERS!!
