HL Atom Select, 2018-2019 (Sarnia Hockey)

The 2018-2019 Sarnia Sabers Atom Select team wrapped up the formal part of their season in Brantford, Ontario the weekend of April 5-7th at the Alliance Select Championship Tournaments.  We fought hard and played some of our best hockey of the season, but ultimately ran out of gas during our third game of the day on Saturday night against the eventual tournament champion, Kitchener Jr. Rangers. 

The Sarnia Sabers Atom Select team captured the championship at the 2019 Bradford Blue and Gold Classic. The team finished the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record after defeating the Vaughn Rangers 5-4 in a thrilling 3OT Final game. Fergus Turnbull netted the winner, before the crowd erupted in celebration, following an intense 2 on 2 session in the third overtime period. The win improves the team's overall record to 13-4-0 on the season. The Sarnia Sabers Atom Select team hit the road to play the Greater London Hockey Association Atom '08 Select team on November 25th. The Sabers played hard and won the Sunday evening road game by a score of 7-4. We are looking forward to hosting the GLHA Selects for a return bout at the end of December to close out our schedule for the 2018 calendar year. On December 1st, the Sabers took on a strong team from Mooretown. The Flags were victorious by a score of 6-2. The team played hard, but the group from down-river proved to be our biggest test of the young season. The return match is next ...

The Sarnia Sabers Atom Select team came together to compete in the Big Bear URSA Major Tournament this weekend in Fraser, Michigan.  The team finished with 4 wins and 1 "L" (we won't lose this year, we will win or we will "L"earn).  Down by a score of 3-1 late in the second period of the Championship game against a strong Stars team from Amherstburg, ON, The Sabers stormed back with 4 unanswered goals to take home the top prize. 

Hello Everyone,  Our first team practice will take place this upcoming Friday at PASA 1. We hit the ice at 5pm. Stay tuned for an update email coming through later this evening.
