5.00.10 Recreational League Goaltending Regulations

1) These regualtions only apply to U6/U7, U8/U9 and U11 divisions:

a) There will be no permanent goalies in the above noted divisions.  Goalie Equipment can be supplied by SHA in accordance with Policy 1.06

b) Coaches must encourage development of the position through the whole team

i) Minimum rotation will be every two (2) weeks.
ii) The coach shall maintain a list of those players that have expressed an interest in trying the position of goaltender.
iii) This list should be compiled within 2 weeks of the first practice
iv) ALL PLAYERS are to be given the opportunity to try the position should they wish to do so at anytime during the exhibition or regualar season phase.
v) Coaches are permitted to select a single player or set a preferred list of goaltenders for rotation at tournaments and for Final Days games

c) It is not mandatory for any participant to play goal. No one will be forced.
d) It is recommended that at the once all interested players on a team have tried the position of goaltender 2 times, the coach can then offer the next round of rotation to those players that are committed in playing the position of goaltender on a regular basis. The coach will rotate through all of these players for the duration of the season including league playoffs.

e) Division Directors are responsible to monitor and manage opportunities based on interested goalie availability

2) These regualtions only apply to U13, U15, U18 and U21 divisions:

a) There can be permanent goalies in the above noted divisions. Goalie Equipment is not supplied by SHA in accordance with Policy 1.06
b) Coaches should encourage development of the position through the whole team
c) More than one goalie can be assigned to any Recrational Team(s).  PlayingTime must be fairly distributed on a weekly basis
d) Final Days game playing time must be shared equally
e) Coaches are permitted to set a rotation at tournaments
f) It is not mandatory for any participant to play goal. No one will be forced.  Conveners may be required to manage a subsitution list or share goalies amongst all teams in the league
