CANCELLATION:

  1. All Sarnia Hockey Recreational Games will remain scheduled and playable if the arena facility is open
  2. If the city closes a facility for any reason, including but not limited to weather, technical issues, equipment failure, safety issue, etc all SHA recreational Games, Practices and Activities at that facility will be cancelled until the City of Sarnia advises otherwise
  3. No Coach, Player or Official will be forced to play or participate in any game at any time.  Participants with concerns for safety due to weather, technical issues, equipment failure, etc are encouraged to notify the Head Coach or Division Directors of their intentions and provide a reason.
  4. If a SHA Recreational League Game is suspended for any reason SHA will attempt to re-schedule a game in priority with other leagues and divisions.
  5. Hockey Canada Rule 2.2(a) allows for a game to be suspended due to lack of player availabiitly
  6. If a Sarnia Hockey Recreational Practice is cancelled for any reason SHA will attempt to re-schedule if possible and time permits

RESCHEDULING:

  1. Any re-scheduling will be the responsibilty of the Division Director in consult with the Ice Scheduler
  2. The Ice Scheduler will advise Teams & Directors of non-emergency (48 Hrs or more) schedule changes in advance
  3. The Ice Scheduler will advise Teams & Directors of emergency (48 Hrs or less) schedule changes in a reasonable timeframe as time permits

FORFIETURE OF A GAME: Any SHA Recreational Team that forfiets a league game can be subject to one or more the following sanctions:

  1. Forfieting Team will be announced as the loser of the game and the the opponent will be awarded 5 Goals.  The official score will be 5-0.
  2. The Forfieting Team's Head Coach can be assessed a Game Misconduct for Refusal to Start Play under Rule 10.8(b) of the Hockey Canada Rule Book.
  3. The incident shall be reported to the VC-Recreational for investigation and recommendations submitted to the SHA Board of Directors.
