Sarnia Sting Minor Midgets were home Saturday afternoon at Sarnia Arena

to North London Nationals having defeated them solidly a week ago in London. This game proved to be much closer and went down to the wire before the home boys prevailed 3 to 2 win.

Both teams took to the ice as if they were bent on winning. London struck first with a goal at 4:38 by number 16 shortly after a big hit on another London player by Nolan Riley at centre ice. Before the period ended, Callahan Doughty struck back for Sarnia with a blast at 1:21 fed by Dillon Saunders. The period ended with the shots even at seven and no penalties.

The second started out poorly with Blain Adams taking a ‘hit from behind’ penalty and the suspension that goes with it. Sarnia made the best of it when Dillon Saunders took a feed off the boards from Tyler Drury outracing the defenseman to fire the puck home low to the stick side. The shorthanded goal gave a temporary lead for Sarnia at 11:09. The Nationals fought back to tie the game again at 5:40 on a goal by number 94 assisted by number 16. Before the period ended Riley laid another big hit on a London player at 3:13.

Cole Lauzon kept the score tied with a big save on a deke early into the third. The play was up and down the ice with several shots on goal but none in either net. Kevin Durco fore checked well in the other end. Cullen Smith worked well to take the puck away in our corner and feed it ahead. London took a delay of game penalty with 22 seconds left in the game when number 7 laid on the puck in the corner. It resulted in a mad scramble in the Nats end with Devin Butler sliding the puck home low on the left side with just 2.2 seconds left in the game. Gage Riddoch and Nolan Riley drew assists on the power play winner. North London Nationals out shoot Sarnia 31 – 20.
