Exciting Double-Header Action Last Weekend
Last weekend (January 9th), the Dante Devils kept their unbeaten playoff streak going with a win and a tie.
The morning game featured a match-up between 2 of the top teams in the league with the Devils taking on Jiffy Lube (Red Team). The Devils came out flying in the first period with goals from Matthew Davies (assisted by Aaron Coene) and Tyler Glavin (assisted by Mitch Guerette & Chris Blair). Team Red responded with a goal from Mason Mineilly to make it 2-1 after the 1st period. The Devils kept up the pressure and struck 2 more times in the 2nd period with a goal from Blair and another from Chase Nickels (assisted by Brent Menheere). After 2 periods, the Devils were up 4-1. Mineilly got another for Red in the 3rd period but Brayden Bedard shut the door stopping all other attempts. Final score: Devils 4, Red Team 2.
In the night game, the Devils faced a tough challenge from Brooktree (Grey/Black). Chase Nickels got a goal in the first period and added another in the 2nd period, but Brooktree responded with 2 of their own from Patrick Tisdale. Chris Blair put the Devils ahead early in the 3rd period (assisted by Aaron Coene), but the lead was short lived as Janzen Work quickly tied it back up with a goal for Brooktree. Brayden Bedard shut the door the rest of the way for the Devils, but the offence couldn't solve the Grey goalie on the other end, leaving the game tied. Final score: Devils 3, Brooktree (Grey) 3.
