March 18th GN# 37 & GN# 38
It took the final playoff games, in both tiers, to determine the championship match-ups in the Sarnia Hockey Associations midget house league scheduled for Thursday at Clearwater Arena.


In the tier 1 division, a three way tie for second place occurred at the conclusion of the night. Cathcart Dental topped Lakeshore Optimists 7-4. Despite three teams finishing with 8 pts, the overall record favoured Lakeshore and therefore they advanced to the “A” cup. Spencer Baillie had a five point night scoring three times for Cathcart. Alexander Tanguy also had a hat trick. Dallas Henry was the other sniper. Jacob Cottam had three assists while Brendan Bouterse and Steve Schaefer both had two. Mitchell O’Bradovic and Benjamin Pozdyk each had one. Call up tier 2 goalie Seth LeBlanc, in his second game, stopped 20 of 24 shots. Tim MacNaughton answered with three goals and Mackenzie Fiddy also found the back of the net for Lakeshore. Helping out with single assists were Sydney Caron, Jordy Grondin, Jayce Barnaby, Nevan Smith, Nick Cooper, Eric Capes and Curtis Steeves. Goalie Cameron Stevens faced 36 shots during the contest. In game two, Sarnia Cement (also finishing with 8 pts) held on to a 5-3 win over Lehder Environmental who finished with 12 pts. Clayton Peters hit the back of the net twice for Sarnia Cement. Spencer MacKinlay had a goal and two assists and Kyle Robertson had a goal and an assist. Eric Duguay rounded out the scoring with a single. Cody Lunn had three assists and Logan Harvey and Tyson Passingham both had one. Goalie Lennox Jagoo stopped 42 of 45 shots. Zach Turner answered with a pair of goals and Logan Tardif had one. Collin Zimmer earned two assists and both Ian Bailey and Jacob Cunningham had one.  Goalie Nick Budden had 27 shots fired his way. Cathcart Dental and Sarnia Cement will go head to head for the “B” cup at 5:30 at Clearwater blue. Lehder Environmental and Lakeshore Optimists play at 7:15 for the “A” cup.
