X-mas Tournament and 8th Game Report
Wow!! What a Great Tournament for the Black Beast!! Our team had the opportunity to leave their mark on this annual tourney and they did not disappoint. In the opening game it was a back and forth battle against the White team that ended with a 4-4 tie. Up next was the Green Machine who would not give up as we held the lead most of the game but finally lost 4-3. Kudos to our 3rd opponents who stepped up a division but were out matched as Ryson Payne put up a hattie. While shaking hands after the game I had to laugh as one Yellow team player commented to me about how we Destroyed them!!
Our last game was against our practice companions the Gold team and it proved to be a battle of the Goaltenders!! James Robbins backstopped our team throughout the tournament and continued playing spectacular but in the 2nd period Gold scored on a rebound in the crease and slid it 5 hole. We could not muster up a goal of our own and took a questionable penalty with 1:31 left in the third that ended our come back attempt! Losing 1-0 in that game solidified our entire tournament performance as victorious!! When we look back at our team`s play and see that the goals for were 14 and goals against were 10 it proves that our TEAM is going in the right direction. From the team coaching staff we must thank the team`s resilience when down a goal or 2 and not giving up but battling back and showing team spirit and the love for the game! Also we would like to Thank the Parents and others who taxied the players to and from the arena`s and showed their support also!! Let`s back step now to our regular season game 8 before the tournament games. This game we introduced our 2nd set of Assistant Captain`s following the first set of Jimmy Lawrence, Jordan Brooks, Terrance Williams and Noah Mooser at the OHL Experience. In this game our Assistant Captain`s were Kaleb Orrange, Matthew Ray, James Robbins and Leland Williams. After Jimmy Lawrence put us on the score board early in the first the opposition stormed back and we were down 3-1 after the period. The pucks continued to fly in the 2nd period as our goalie Noah Mooser can attest to as 1 nearly took his helmet off as it soared over his head and net! Noah continued to inspire the team as he stopped a player on a clear break away and stoned him cold on his attempt. Connor Vandermeer got in on the action with his own break away attempt as he fought off 2 defensemen deep in the opposition`s end. On the blue line James Robbins slid across the ice to keep the puck in the offensive zone. Even with Jordan Brooks making his break away attempt it was not enough as we ended up losing 7-2. A solid effort again by the entire team as we coaches saw some excellent passing plays and quality scoring chances. Keep up the effort Boys as we are getting stronger each game and bonding as a TEAM! GO BEAST GO!!
