2nd Playoff Game Report
Hello Team and Parents, better late then never so here we go! The Black Beast went head to head against the White Lightning in our 2nd Playoff game, again it would be a nail biter to the end. Right off the opening face off the Lightning went to work like a bolt, they caught our entire opening line up off guard and put a high wrist shot past our stunned goalie to show us they were here to play!!
After the eye opening start we settled down and started to play our game with Noah Mooser setting up Ryson Payne for a quick shot of our own. As we continued to apply pressure Landon Williams fanned on a pass from the corner to his perfect position at the side of the net and the puck careened into the opposite corner instead of the open net. Again the Lightning continued to press and they broke down our defence and scored on our net minder James Robbins to up the ante to 2-0. Terrance Williams would show that even when we are down we are not out as he stole the puck from the opposition in front of our net and helped to save a Lightning goal. The second period would show our TEAM effort was alive and well as Ryson Payne streaked down the left side of the ice and would spot Connor Vandermeer open on the opposite side and slide a beautiful pass through the defenceman`s stick and skate to feed Connor and he put it home as easy as pie!! Highlight goal of the day as they looked like Matthews and Nylander just sweet!! After that Ryson would again have a break away shot that was stopped but sent the crowd into a frenzy and then our goalie James would crush the opposition`s break away attempt to further ignite the crowd! The 3rd period did not disappoint as our goalie continued to shut down the Lightning and inspire our offense. Jordan Brooks would feed off that energy and make his own save at the side of the net to assist James and give our team another boost. Grayson Levy also got in on the action with his own take away from the Lightning to further frustrate them. With time running and us behind Connor took it upon himself to blow by the entire Lightning team and score his own high light goal and it was game on again tied 2-2. Unfortunately the puck did not bounce our way after that as the Lightning scored the go ahead goal and once again we took a late penalty to end any come back chance. Another quality game from all of our team and just in case no one has realized since the Christmas Tournament we have had nothing but 1 goal games and ties so when the levy breaks I am looking forward to a break out performance which might be right in time for the Dresden tournament which I now have the schedule for. On Friday Feb 2 we play at 1;00 Dresden vs Black Beast , then Saturday the 3rd 10:00 Black Beast vs Petrolia Black (yes I will see about both teams wearing black) then it will be where we will be seeded for what time we play but it will be that day at either 4, 5 or 6 and hopefully we play on Sunday.
